Hi Rfloto,

Giallo Veneziano has more yellow than Giallo Ornamental. You've pointed out that your cabinets are more pink than yellow, and your have very light tiles. If your kitchen is not well-lit, then I would recommend the Giallo Ornamental to make the kitchen brighter.

However, if your kitchen is well-lit, I recomend Giallo Veneziano to add more warmth to your kitchen.

Best wishes,
Lionel Young

Hi I have bleached oak cabinets with pink rather than a yellow look, very light colored tile floor with taupes and grays. Would the Giallo Ornamental or the Giallo Veneziano be better and what would you suggest for the backsplash?
Thanks you.

Nice kitchen cabinets. I just put in oak cabinet and a dark countertop as well. However, this is, unfortunately, a poorly planned kitchen. The white door cuts the kitchen in half and looks totally out of place. I know that is something that cannot be helped. However, an island/bar set-up would have blocked the sight of the door and still allowed movement in the kitchen. Guests could have sat on barstools and had drinks while the cook was preparing meals, thus encouraging socializing. A nice set of lamps hanging over the island/bar would have given added ambiance and also helped block the sight of that white door. The sink is way on the other side of the room. It could have been placed in the island, thus providing a more functional work triangle. Is the cook going to carry a pot of hot water across the kitchen to pour it out, or fill it up again? Not convenient at all. Some lights under the cabinets to light up the countertop would have been nice as well as built-in ceiling spotlights with dimmers.

Hi MK,

These are different granites, but they are similar. Giallo Veneziano has more yellow tone and larger features, whereas Giallo Ornamental is more speckled and paler.

Best wishes,
Lionel

We ordered GV and contractor changed to Giallo Ornamental. Are these the same or very different?

Hi Ileney, as long as you're not trying to match it exactly, you should be fine. Perhaps also look into changing the orientation (such as diagonally)

Hi Lionel, Thanks again for getting back to me! I'm back to the GV, went to the yard and fround a beautiful slab that has no orange in it, and very warm with brown and golds. I'm thinking of going with a travetine tile, not sure if I will use subway, or 4x4 on the diamond. Would like to do something simple over the cooktop, but have no idea what to use. When looking at floor tiles, I saw a bamboo floor that was the deepest color of my oak floors. Do you think that would look nice? As I look for floor tiles, I realized how much I prefer wood, thought bamboo would not look out of place, do you agree?
Thanks,
ilene

Hi Ileney54, blue pearl when well-lit isn't actually very dark. The "pearl" variations reflect quite a bit of light.

Since your backsplash will have more interesting variations, a more subdued countertop (such as Absolute Black) will give more attention to your cabinets.

Best wishes,
Lionel

Lionel, thanks for your advice. My Kitchen is in the middle of the house, has 4 entrances to other rooms, but not an L shape. I'm just so confused, but think your advice is good and I agree with you about the wood not blending and just being to much. The hallway has wood, as does the dinning room, which both have entrances into the kitchen, my den has white carpeting, and the laundry room will have the same floor as the kitchen. My kitchen has a skylight, so it is a bright kitchen, and I'm installing under counter lights, which will add to the high hats, and fixture I'm purchasing To add to my confusion, my husband asked me to reconsider blue pearl tonight, which is the color he likes best. Duhhh....I have decided on a straight edge cut to sandstone 4x4 tile for the back splash, I think it has a nice look and even though it has the natural variations in color it isn't so different that it bothers me. Your honest opinion, it's black, or blue pearl a hard look for the kitchen, I want a soft look, and think that his idea is nice, but hard looking.
Thanks,
Ilene

Hi Ileney54,

If you're going to have different floor types, I recommend ceramic. If the transition between the two floor types is too similar (e.g. hardwood then pergo, or a different wood), the subtle clash is *uncomfortable*.

However, going with ceramic gives the kitchen a solid voice with "Yes, I'm the heart of the house and individual."

Again, these recommendations assume your kitchen has adequate lighting and is not exposed to the rest of the house (such as in L-shaped kitchens that directly view the living room)

Best wishes,
Lionel
