Giallo Veneziano Granite

Giallo Veneziano is one of our most popular granites, because it goes so well with a many woods due to its varying gold and brown color.

Where Does Giallo Veneziano Come From?

Giallo Veneziano is a granite from the mountains of Brazil and is an orthogeneisses rock, which means Giallo Veneziano is metamorphized lightly-colored magma under high pressure.

Other types of granite formation create different types of granite through different types of rocks or way of formation, such as Paradiso (migmatites, slight melting of gneisses), Santa Cecila (garnet gneisses, richer in garnet).

What Cabinet Colors Go Well With Giallo Veneziano?

Shaker Cherry
Raised Panel Cherry
The gold color is a nice contrast, while the browns in the granite complement the cherry, which exemplifies its natural wood by not making it a flat color.
• Birch The brown in our Birch Cabinets complement the brown in the granite
• Honey Maple
• Natural Maple
Canadian Maple
The gold color in this granite complements the maple tone of these cabinets
American Red Oak American Red Oak is between the gold and the brown in the cabinet, adding extra color into your kitchen
Beech Coffee Beech Coffee is slightly light, complimenting the golds while providing a fine contrast with the browns

could you please share with me the differents in color, I lookes at some Giallo Veneziano 12×12 granite tiles and they were peach in color. Every thing I read on you web and others the color is a golden color. What is it PEACH or GOLDEN??

    Giallo veneziano is yellow

    Hey Debbie,

Giallo Veneziano is yellow with brown. You might be looking at Giallo Florito, which is slightly peach with brown.

Can you tell me what goes good as a backsplash for giallo Veneziano

  6. Lionel Young on September 18th, 2007 5:28 pm

If you’re not going the full backsplash route, I’d recommend a four inch Giallo Veneziano backsplash. When I design, I choose a wall color that is a different color than the cabinets and complements the floor choice.

Some designers like to use tile, so if you’re going that route, try not to pick one that draws too much attention (such as overtly bright or outstanding designs).

looking for the perfect color tile backsplash to go with giallo veneziano granite countertop

  8. Lionel Young on October 13th, 2007 10:50 am

    Hi Denise,

The perfect color tile backsplash depends on your cabinet choice and decor of the room.

Sometimes people like the tiles to emphasize the different colors in the Giallo Veneziano, such as the yellows or the browns. It’s your cabinets and the subtle complements in your kitchen that make a tile “perfect.”

I suggest searching for samples of a range you would like and match them up to your countertop. As a starting point, try thinking about possible complementing the browns or the yellow: these can be highlights in the tile, instead of the tile itself.

I hope your tile search goes well!

User 4″ * 4″ travertine chirallo travertine, u will find it in any home depot store, looks great with the GV granite. If you have a small 3 ft slab left over use that for the backsplash behind the stove and the rest of the area use the travertine, I am doing this for my kitchen, will post some pictures once its done.

What color/style backspash goes with Giallo Ornamental granite? We have dark cherry (red mahogany) cabinets and neutral paint color on the walls.

  12. Lionel Young on August 25th, 2008 6:55 pm

    Dear Gina,

Most of my customers opt to use one of the following as their backsplashes:

    * 4 inch backsplash of the *same* granite
    * Full backsplash (backsplash up to the bottom of the wall cabinets)
    * Tile

I would recommend you use a 4 inch backsplash, because it seems like you wish you show off your paint.

Please email me, or use the contact form, if you’d like to give me more details about your kitchen.

I’m trying to find wall color and floor tile color to compliment giallo Veneziano granite countertops with honey maple cabinets…

    Please help!!!

  14. Lionel Young on September 9th, 2008 8:02 pm

    Dear Gennifer,

Many of my customers choose to complement their floors tiles with their countertop.

Since your cabinets are close to the shade of the Honey Maple cabinets, I recommend floor tiles that are a shade darker than your granite countertops. This gives a flow from your floor to the ceiling.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to reply if you have any more questions.

LIONEL, WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF PURCHASING NEW KITCHEN CABINETS. PROBABLY THE COFFEE GLAZED MAPLE CABINETS. I HAVE THREE QUESTIONS: FIRST: HOW CAN I TELL IF WOOD ON CABINET IS NOT PARTICLE WOOD. SECOND: WHAT GRANITE COUNTER WOULD BEST LOOK WITH THESE CABINETS AND WHAT BACKSPLASH ADVICE YOU HAVE TO ACCOMODATE I.E. COLOR, STYLE.. MY KITCHEN IS YELLOW BUT NOT BRIGHT WITH NEUTRAL FLOOR TILES. THIRD: MY KITCHEN IS SMALL I BELIEVE ITS 10X10 IS IT WORTH GETTING GRANITE FOR SUCH SMALL COUNTERS? ITS PROBABLY LESS THAN 30 SQ FT. I PERSONALLY THINK IT IS. PLEASE HELP AS WE WILL BE MAKING DECISIONS THIS WEEKEND. THANK YOU!

  17. Lionel Young on February 25th, 2009 5:29 pm

    Hi Edwin,

Congratulations on your upcoming purchase! I hope my following answer will help you.

    1. There are two major types of wood used in kitchen cabinets: particle board, and plywood.

Plywood looks like several sheets of paper stacked on each other, see image.

Particle board is chopped wood put together. See image.

    2. Giallo Veneziano looks great with your cabinets, but they’re on the more expensive side of granite countertops. I recommend going with lighter countertops, since a darker countertop would do better in a kitchen with more lighting.

    3. Granite makes a huge impact on your kitchen. Not only are granite countertops easy to maintain and look great, they also increase the value of your home. At http://www.elegantcab.com/are-you-getting-the-most-out-of-your-kitchen-remodel/, I wrote about how kitchen remodels give the best bang out of your buck for return on investment.

Edwin, I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact me!

I am remodeling a kitchen. I am thinking of using Kraftmaid cabinets in the maple honeyspice with a mocha finish. Would you recommend using Giallo Veneziano granite with this cabinet combination. I also want ot use stainless appliances. I will also be putting in wood floors. If you think the cabinet color and granite choice is okay then what color wood floor would you use. It will not be real hardwood. Probably a laminate like pergo or wilson art. I havent decided which brand to go with. I have not bought the cabinets or counter tops. I am still in the looking phase. I really do like the cabinet color maple wood with the honey spice mocha finish color. But I need a granite that will really make it pop. I was hoping the one I mentioned in this e-mail will work. Linda

  19. Lionel Young on May 1st, 2009 2:27 pm

    Hi Linda,

Giallo Veneziallo will complement that kitchen very well.

    Good luck on your search!

I am installing prada gold granite countertops (looks like flowing sand) on all four sides of my kitchen, with pecan quakermaid cabinets above. Rather than a backsplash, I am looking to run tile up to the cabinets. Will Giallo Veneziano wall tiles be a good match, or will they overwhelm the countertops and make the room too showy?

  21. Mannie on June 26th, 2009 5:30 am

    Hello!
Just picked my cabinets and want to use the Giallo Veneziano Granite. The Cabinets are a Hickory (Spice). What do you think?

  22. Laurie on September 6th, 2009 10:53 am

I have oak cabinets and giallo venezino countertops. I am having a difficult time finding a color for the back splash. Any recommendations?

  23. Lionel Young on September 8th, 2009 5:23 pm

    Hi Laurie,

Check out the kitchen at http://www.elegantcab.com/cherry-cabinets-with-giallo-veneziano-countertops/

It has Cherry cabinets with a full backsplash of Giallo Veneziano. Depending on your kitchen layout, it could go great with your oak cabinets!

If you’re not interested in a full backsplash, I recommend finding a shade between oak and your flooring. This will give a nice transition between the oak and granite.

    Best wishes,

    Lionel

  24. Donna on February 13th, 2010 4:30 pm

I am having a hard time with my granite. i hve cherry cabents and giallo ornamental granite what color tile would look good and should i tile from the counter up to cabents or use granite all the way to the cabents . I have a red oak floor. PLEASE HELP I am going crazy. Thank You

  25. Lionel Young on February 14th, 2010 1:34 am

    Dear Donna,

For a smaller/open kitchen and living room, I recommend going with a lighter tile to match the Giallo granite.

The contrast between the lighter floor (which will match your granite), and the red oak floors give a solid separation between your rooms.

    Best wishes,

I have a small kitchen with a peninsula. I have giallo veneziano granite countertops, honey oak cabinets and I just purchased a new dishwasher in white. My refrigerator is almond and the range is black with white trim. I wanted the white dishwasher because I was afraid of black appliances making the kitchen too dark but I think I should have gone with the black. My tile floors are cream. I will need a new refrig soon and I don’t want to make any more mistakes.

  27. Maryann Gomez on February 16th, 2010 7:55 pm

Why is it so hard to coordinate backsplash, counter top granite, and cabinet colors? One would think that this is easy but I am findiing that I have spent more time tryng to pick these colors than I spent on picking out names for my children!!!!!!!!!!! It is unbelievable and really starting to tick me off. It should be simple.
I have shaker type maple cabinets. I want my color combinations to be earthy…….browns and creams. I do not want a ceramic tile floor……I want linoleum and everyone is yelling at me! Linoleum is not as hard on the feet, things do not break into a thousand little chips when you drop them and linoleum is not cold! Further, to me it just seems more durable and easier to clean. So having said this……………any idea’s for a combination color scheme?

  28. peter yu on February 19th, 2010 12:10 am

    Hi,

I am currently putting in new cabinets (beech - mid orange look) and was curious as to whether if we should go with a dark granite (black galaxy, absolute black) or a lighter granite, can you please recommend us something on that? Also, as far as the backsplash is concerned, is it ideal to use a full granite flush or 6inch granite and tile up the wall? What is more common in a 350 sq ft. kitchen?

As far as the peninsula our concerned, our size consists of a 3 x 5 with cabinets on the inner side of it, do most folks put cabinets on all sides of the island or just one side like us? As far as the granite size for the peninsula, do folks generally let it hang out by an additional 2-3 feet?

Thank you Lionel for your time :)

  29. Lionel Young on February 19th, 2010 12:26 am

    Dear Peter,

    What color are your floors?

I recommend to my clients a complementary scheme between the granite and the floors and to use a full backsplash.

The full backsplash is great because the cost delta between wall tiles and granite is generally less than 5% of your kitchen, and returns a more refined look.

    Regarding the peninsula:
    * It is perfectly normal to have cabinets on one side.
    * The peninsula usually hangs out by an extra 12 inches.

Thanks for visiting and best wishes,
    Lionel Young

  30. peter yu on February 19th, 2010 12:42 am

The color of my floors is like a very light coffee, between brown and manila i would say, very close to your Golden King color. Aside from the black galaxy I really like another color, but I cant seem to find it anywhere (the name of it) and I went to a few different places and was unable to find it. It looks much like your Santa Cecilia, but much lighter on towards the orangey side of it.

    Thanks again for your time.

Also, where can i find something, my wife is looking for a different kind of look for the backsplash area right above the stovetop? I am having a hard time finding anything on that regard, any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

  33. Stella on March 26th, 2010 7:43 pm

    Hi,
I have a galley kitchen with oak cabinets and I am putting Giallo veneziano granite tile and hickory flooring. What’s a good choice for a full backsplash or is it better just getting a 3-4 inch giallo veneziano backsplash?
    Thanks for your input Lionel

  34. Lionel Young on March 28th, 2010 9:29 pm

    Hi Fran,

Giallo Veneziano would definitely work in both spaces because you can either use it to complement or contrast your cabinets.

Since you have red oak cabinets, the Giallo Veneziano would go better with your Cherry Island to break up the red colors of the oak and cherry.

    Best wishes,
    Lionel Young

  35. Lionel Young on March 28th, 2010 9:31 pm

    Dear Stella,

With the dropping cost of granite, I recommend to all my clients to go with a full backsplash.

A 3-4in backsplash leaves you several questions:
    * What color do you paint the wall?
    * Are you going to use tile to cover the wall?

Remember, to meet building code, you must use a full backsplash for your stove, whether it be tile or granite.

Hi, I am buying a new house and I have to pick my flooring tomorrow for the whole house, but I have a problem… In the kitchen I have Maple Cabinets with Giallo Veneziano (pinkish color) in it and I don’t know what type of floor I should get to make it perfect in there. Can someone help me?

Also should I only do the kitchen or the kitchen and the living room the same floor?

    PLEASE HELP!

    Thanks!

    Mrs. Cosby

  37. Lionel Young on April 14th, 2010 9:29 am

    Dear Mrs. Cosby,

I see you’re going for a flooring for both the kitchen and the rest of the room.

I often recommend using ceramic for the kitchen, with a hardwood transition to hardwood in the rest of the house. The reason for this is because two different floors breaks up a large open space, and separates your kitchen from the rest of your house.

    Lionel Young

  38. Zorayda on April 20th, 2010 1:01 pm

Hi, I am going to remodel my kitchen with cherry wood cabinets and colonial treasure granite counter tops including backsplash. All appliances are white. Please help me chose a floor tile that would make my kitchen the envy of all.

  39. Lionel Young on April 22nd, 2010 9:32 pm

    Dear Zorayda,

Those sound like beautiful choices! Have you looked into ceramic tiles or hardwood floors?

If you choose ceramic, then a complementary color to your granite would go very well. If you choose hardwood floors, you can choose a darker wood to contrast the white cabinets.

    Best wishes,
    Lionel Young

  40. Dimarco on April 28th, 2010 6:04 pm

    Hi,
We have antique white cabinets with giallo ven. granite tops and black appliances. What color paint and backsplash do you recommend. Also, do you recommend ss appliances?

  41. Lionel Young on April 29th, 2010 11:01 am

    Dear Dimarco,

Do you already have a 4-inch backsplash? If so, find a light paint color that complements your floors. Otherwise, I’d recommend using a full backsplash.

Stainless steel appliances are very popular with modern kitchens, but I wouldn’t replace your appliances unless you’re looking for an upgrade anyway, because the contrast from black appliances goes very well with white cabinets.

    Best wishes,
    Lionel

  42. Sorven on May 3rd, 2010 1:59 pm

    Hi Lionel,
We have med/dark “amber” stained birch cabinets, new GV counter tops, and red oak floors. Our GV granite is much lighter than most, pretty much white in places where others show brown or cinnamon coloration. We haven’t put on a back splash yet because we want to do something that brings out a little more warmth than the “cool” counter tops. Our appliances are a mix of stainless & white. Any suggestions for full back splash?

  43. Lionel Young on May 4th, 2010 12:05 pm

    Hi Sorven,

From what you’re saying, it looks like you don’t want to use Giallo Veneziano for your full backsplash, and want to find something that brings out more warmth compared to Giallo Veneziano.

I recommend staying away from dark countertops (such as Black Galaxy or Tan Brown), because you will have too much complimentary colors with your dark amber birch cabinets.

Your best bet is to go with a countertop that is between your floors and your countertops, but make it two or three shades closer to your countertops.

    Best wishes,
    Lionel Young

  44. Sheila Potts on July 3rd, 2010 9:09 am

I have a tiled floor that has mostly gold & tan tones. My cabinets are a lightly glazed creme paint. Is the general “rule” to tie the color of your tile floor in with your granite top? I am torn between 2 granite colors. One has the tones of my floor (Giallo Veneziano) but I also like the more conservative Giallo Ornamental - but am afraid to get that because there are no golds in there, just cream and darker brown. The ornamental looks great with the cabinets, but again is different from the floor. My only reservation about the Veneziano is it does tend to look “peachy” more than gold sometimes - and it has black splotches vs. the brown. Wow - I never knew picking a granite color would be so stressful! What do you think?

  47. Sasha on August 22nd, 2010 1:11 pm

    Hi,

We have cabinets that are maple auburn glaze and stainless steel appliances. Which granite would you say would be the best–giallo veneziano, colonial dream or colonial gold? We do not get much natural light in our kitchen.

    Thanks,
